I had to think about this 00:00:18.000 --> 00:00:19.000 for a long time. All right, so on my list of top three places, I'm gonna start off with Paris. So, the reason 00:00:19.000 --> 00:00:20.000 why I want to put Paris is because I know a lot of people in this world put Paris on their list of overrated 00:00:20.000 --> 00:00:21.000 cities, and I strongly disagree with that. When people say it in front of me, you can't see it, but my teeth 00:00:21.000 --> 00:00:22.000 are just grinding the entire time. You can see me because I'm just squinting, like the emoji that's got the 00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:23.000 squinty eyes and the straight mouth. That one, yeah. Paris is everything. It is everything, the food, the 00:00:23.000 --> 00:00:24.000 vintage shopping, like some of the greatest flea markets in the entire world, and you know, the history, 00:00:24.000 --> 00:00:25.000 the art, there's just.. I mean, I just can't think of anything bad about it. It's like it's.. it's one of the best 00:00:25.000 --> 00:00:26.000 cities in the world, but even better, like, I don't know, so when people call it overrated, I'm like, maybe 00:00:26.000 --> 00:00:27.000 for you, and I just assume that they don't like any of the things I like, and I clock that, and I'm like, okay, 00:00:27.000 --> 00:00:28.000 so you're in to what sports, what else, what else. 00:00:28.000 --> 00:00:29.000 Emma 00:00:29.000 --> 00:00:30.000 So I will say, I don't think either of us went to Paris with our partners, now that I'm thinking about it, I 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:31.000 haven't yet. No, and yeah, I totally would. It's not like I'm like it's a.. it's not a place for couples. Have 00:00:31.000 --> 00:00:32.000 you ever heard he would say that? Like, I think it's usually described as like one of the most romantic 00:00:32.000 --> 00:00:33.000 cities in the world since so many movies, and it's, you know, very romantic. And I agree. When I, when I 00:00:33.000 --> 00:00:34.000 was like 20, it wasn't with anyone, I was with a friend, but I still thought it was like one of the most 00:00:34.000 --> 00:00:35.000 romantic places I had ever been. I don't know why, but the vibes are romantic in such a fun way. But 00:00:35.000 --> 00:00:36.000 actually, I don't know if it would be like a top spot that my husband would want to go to. Like, I don't 00:00:36.000 --> 00:00:37.000 necessarily view it as like, oh, us as a couple, that's where we would want to go. Like, I'm like, I don't 00:00:37.000 --> 00:00:38.000 know, I think we'd like it, but I actually feel like it would make a better girl trip or someday family trip. My 00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:39.000 kids are too little right now, it's too far of a plane ride for us. If you like that, that's great, but I'm like, no, 00:00:39.000 --> 00:00:40.000 on the plane ride for right now. But I loved it as a 20 year old who just like went randomly. I was living in 00:00:40.000 --> 00:00:41.000 London one summer studying, and some of the girls I was bunking with, I'd never met them before. 00:00:41.000 --> 00:00:42.000 They were just in the same dorm, and one of the girls was like, I'm gonna go to Paris this weekend, we 00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:43.000 have four day weekend, and I was like, I want to go to Paris too, so we both went, her name was 00:00:43.000 --> 00:00:44.000 Michelle, and I knew her somewhat well, I mean, we had met on this trip, and she was delightful and 00:00:44.000 --> 00:00:45.000 very fun, and we just had the best time just tooling around Paris with very little money, because we 00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:46.000 were just 20 year old kids, students, but it was a blast, and such a gorgeous place, and at that time I 00:00:46.000 --> 00:00:47.000 didn't even have a smartphone, so I will say there was a lot of like buying food, and I didn't know what 00:00:47.000 --> 00:00:48.000 they were gonna bring, didn't really read it, but I was like, well, we'll just, whatever, whatever, so cute, 00:00:48.000 --> 00:00:49.000 there was a lot of that going on, like I feel like we went and saw a movie and it ended up being in 00:00:49.000 --> 00:00:50.000 Japanese or something, but then the subtitles were in French, and we were both like, "Oh, because we 00:00:50.000 --> 00:00:51.000 don't think either, that's like just nice, just very, you know, just whatever. But it was a blast, and 00:00:51.000 --> 00:00:52.000 gorgeous, and easy to walk around. We did use the subway system, I want to say underground, they 00:00:52.000 --> 00:00:53.000 don't call it the underground. We did use that, and that was easy to use and great. Yeah, and there's, in 00:00:53.000 --> 00:00:54.000 particular, one pastry that I bought, just like randomly at a bakery one morning, and I was eating it for 00:00:54.000 --> 00:00:55.000 breakfast, and I still think about this pastry to this day. And, like, I said, this was 20 years ago, I was 20 00:00:55.000 --> 00:00:56.000 years old, I'm 40 now, like, it was a delicious.. if you're like Paris doesn't necessarily have. no, you're 00:00:56.000 --> 00:00:57.000 wrong. They do amazing. The food is good, a little bit life-altering. 00:00:57.000 --> 00:00:58.000 Elsie 00:00:58.000 --> 00:00:59.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've been twice. I want to go 100 times more. I think this is one of my old people 00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:00.000 dreams, is that once my.. once I'm.. my kids are kind of.. I don't know, like older. I think I want to go to 00:01:00.000 --> 00:01:01.000 Europe, like kind of as much as I want, I think that's like my main old person dream, is I want to just like 00:01:01.000 --> 00:01:02.000 go for fun all the time, sporadically. Yeah, obviously, like I love art, I love museums, I love flea markets, 00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:03.000 but also I just like walk, I just like the walks, like even if I couldn't go to any museum, any, like, couldn't 00:01:03.000 --> 00:01:04.000 buy a single thing, just to like take the walks would be enough for me. 00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:05.000 Emma 00:01:05.000 --> 00:01:06.000 That's what I loved about Venice, which is different but there's no cars, because the canals, that's more 00:01:06.000 --> 00:01:07.000 the transportation, and so it's just great walking. 00:01:07.000 --> 00:01:08.000 Elsie 00:01:08.000 --> 00:01:09.000 That's on my list too but yeah, I just think Paris is absolutely not overrated, and I do see, I do see your 00:01:09.000 --> 00:01:10.000 point, though. Like, I think my husband will, would enjoy it, and I think he would have fun, and he 00:01:10.000 --> 00:01:11.000 supports my, like, love of art. He, he likes museums, but he doesn't - he's not obsessed with them, you 00:01:11.000 --> 00:01:12.000 know. And so I do think that it's probably, like, even better as a girls' trip, just because there are so 00:01:12.000 --> 00:01:13.000 many, like, niche experiences that I want to. 00:01:13.000 --> 00:01:14.000 Emma 00:01:14.000 --> 00:01:15.000 Like flea market shopping, my husband will definitely do that, but it's not really on his list of things he 00:01:15.000 --> 00:01:16.000 wants to do, he just goes with me, you know, but so if that's a main part of the trip, it's like, oh, it's kind 00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:17.000 of more of a sister trip or a girl trip, or you know, whatever. 00:01:17.000 --> 00:01:18.000 Elsie 00:01:18.000 --> 00:01:19.000 Yeah, and there's also, I think, there's also like a way to do it with kids that is also completely different. 00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:20.000 Yeah, it's just magical. I have to tell you, this is unrelated, but when we went to Arkansas last weekend, 00:01:20.000 --> 00:01:21.000 and we got into the museum, Marigold yelled real loud, "Where's the Mona Lisa? Yes, that is so cute. 00:01:21.000 --> 00:01:22.000 Why? But their faces were read that they don't have the Mona Lisa. There it's an American art museum 00:01:22.000 --> 00:01:23.000 too. 00:01:23.000 --> 00:01:24.000 Emma 00:01:24.000 --> 00:01:25.000 It is a really good museum, but no, it doesn't have to. 00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:26.000 Elsie 00:01:26.000 --> 00:01:27.000 There's no European people anyway. Okay, so do you have a best place or do you want to? 00:01:27.000 --> 00:01:28.000 Emma 00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:29.000 Yes, my favorite place of all time was in Norway. The area is called Lofoten, Lofoten, I think it's called 00:01:29.000 --> 00:01:30.000 Lofoten, but it's spelled Lofoten, if you're American like me, Midwestern like me. And so it's very, very 00:01:30.000 --> 00:01:31.000 north. It's when we went there, it was kind of off season, it was very, very cold. It's not arctic, but it's like 00:01:31.000 --> 00:01:32.000 headed in that direction. And I love really cold places. I also, I love the northern lights. I love seeing the 00:01:32.000 --> 00:01:33.000 northern lights, and I also just love bundling up. I love wearing like winter clothes, and I like 00:01:33.000 --> 00:01:34.000 photographing really interesting and different from where I live landscapes. And so we did a lot of like 00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:35.000 hiking and driving around, and just like photographing landscapes, and it was really, really fun, and 00:01:35.000 --> 00:01:36.000 everyone was super friendly, and it was very cute, and like I said, it was kind of off season, so a lot of 00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:37.000 restaurants were actually closed. We ended up kind of like making food quite a bit more than we were 00:01:37.000 --> 00:01:38.000 expecting. Did we do enough research before we went? No. Did we have a great time? Yes, because 00:01:38.000 --> 00:01:39.000 this part of the world is just gorgeous in my opinion. But yeah, it was just a trip with my husband we did 00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:40.000 years ago, and I loved it. It was a little bit random, but it was one of my favorite places I've ever been, 00:01:40.000 --> 00:01:41.000 and I would love to go back. I would actually love to go back to, in the summer, it's very green and lush. 00:01:41.000 --> 00:01:42.000 It's still, it's not like hot, it's not tropical ever, but like it's not always freezing, freezing there. It's like it 00:01:42.000 --> 00:01:43.000 does get very green and beautiful too. I think that would be fun and different, so I'd love to go then as 00:01:43.000 --> 00:01:44.000 well. 00:01:44.000 --> 00:01:45.000 Elsie 00:01:45.000 --> 00:01:46.000 Ooh, love that. Yeah, I would love to go someday. That's interesting. It's kind of like Iceland, because 00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:47.000 you've been there. It's like that. Iceland is fun. Okay, so my next one is New Orleans. So I think if I have 00:01:47.000 --> 00:01:48.000 to pick, which you never kind of do, but my favorite American city, I'm gonna pick New Orleans, and it is 00:01:48.000 --> 00:01:49.000 hard, like there are quite a few up there, and it's like hard to put anything above New York, because you 00:01:49.000 --> 00:01:50.000 know historically New York's gonna kind of have the most going on for it, but New Orleans, so we went 00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:51.000 pretty recently, like I think in 2025. 00:01:51.000 --> 00:01:52.000 Emma 00:01:52.000 --> 00:01:53.000 Like a year and a half ago, or a year ago, a year ago, yeah. 00:01:53.000 --> 00:01:54.000 Elsie 00:01:54.000 --> 00:01:55.000 And it was, it was one, a wonderful trip. We need to do more girls' trips to New Orleans, but Marigold 00:01:55.000 --> 00:01:56.000 wants to go really bad, so we need to take her next time. Like, Marigold just wants to go on every one 00:01:56.000 --> 00:01:57.000 of our trips, she's just the food ones, she did not all of them, she wants to go to the cities that have 00:01:57.000 --> 00:01:58.000 pastries, the cities that are famous for pastries. So, yes, to Paris, and yes, New Orleans. But, yeah, we, 00:01:58.000 --> 00:01:59.000 the last time we went, we got our palms red. That was really special, actually. I think, did I get the palm, 00:01:59.000 --> 00:02:00.000 and you got the tarot. I think. And then I want to get the tea leaves red, because I know you can. So, yeah, 00:02:10.000 --> 00:02:11.000 Marigold must do that too, and of course, yeah, and the walks are good. It is kind of a place where you 00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:12.000 have to be careful of your season, because it can be very hot, but when we went, it was perfect. It was 00:02:12.000 --> 00:02:13.000 March, and it was just like incredible, and obviously it's a foodie city, and don't let. 100% sober, but like I 00:02:13.000 --> 00:02:14.000 think relatively sober. Yeah, we had one drink each whole time we were there at the carousel bar, and it 00:02:14.000 --> 00:02:15.000 was kind of a thing. 00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:16.000 Emma 00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:17.000 It was fun. 00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:18.000 Elsie 00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:19.000 So I don't think that it has to be tied to drinking, but I do think it is tied to drinking. So if you're a person 00:02:19.000 --> 00:02:20.000 who wants like a big party, it definitely has that to offer. But we didn't get too much into that. We're just 00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:21.000 not in that era of our lives right now. But yeah, I just.. I love the history of it, and we had this Uber driver, 00:02:21.000 --> 00:02:22.000 I'm sure we probably talked about at the time, but before I die, and I'm like recounting, I swear, this 00:02:22.000 --> 00:02:23.000 Uber driver, I'm probably gonna be like, there was this one time, because he just was.. he was going 00:02:23.000 --> 00:02:24.000 off, like, he. we probably had a 10 minute drive, and he told us every bit of gossip he could about Anne 00:02:24.000 --> 00:02:25.000 Rice. Yes, and then he told us where the real literal 2026 vampires are hanging out in New Orleans, 00:02:25.000 --> 00:02:26.000 and it was just like a wonderful experience. 00:02:26.000 --> 00:02:27.000 Emma 00:02:27.000 --> 00:02:28.000 He kept going, we were like, "Tribe us around the block, we're at the bookstore we wanted to go to, but 00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:29.000 go ahead, yes, keep going, yeah, yeah, it was a great trip when we went, and then another time that I 00:02:29.000 --> 00:02:30.000 went to New Orleans, I love New Orleans, another time I went, these are very touristy, but I thought 00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:31.000 they were worth doing, my husband, I did a bicycling food tour, okay, and it was so charming, so you're 00:02:31.000 --> 00:02:32.000 with a group, I should get a little nervous on a bike, I learned to ride a bike later in my childhood, and 00:02:32.000 --> 00:02:33.000 I'm not the best. Am I not good on wheels? I am not good on wheels, that is a good way of putting it. 00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:34.000 So, if you're like, oh, I don't know if I'm athletic, it's not that kind of thing. It was a very easy bike ride, 00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:35.000 and you're kind of with a group, so if you're nervous about cars or that you'll go in the wrong part, you 00:02:35.000 --> 00:02:36.000 won't, because you're with a group. So, even I could do it, so trust me, and our tour guide was 00:02:36.000 --> 00:02:37.000 adorable. He was like the perfect amount of like snooty, but wanted us to have a good time, like he 00:02:37.000 --> 00:02:38.000 would kind of like kind of put down certain restaurants, and then, but he also like was very inviting to all 00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:39.000 of us obvious tourists who were just wanting to learn about New Orleans cuisine, and it was super fun. 00:02:39.000 --> 00:02:40.000 We had like, I think there are four or five courses, and so it took like a whole afternoon, and it was super 00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:41.000 fun, super cute. And then another time I went with some friends, they had booked a gator ride where 00:02:41.000 --> 00:02:42.000 you go on this like kind of swamp boat, and you get to see alligators, and they will like feed them deli 00:02:42.000 --> 00:02:43.000 meat, and they'll like half jump up on the boat, and that was honestly really fun, and I think my, no, love 00:02:43.000 --> 00:02:44.000 it. Oh my gosh, I would hate that. I think my sons would like love it slash hate it in a way, like maybe 00:02:44.000 --> 00:02:45.000 scream, but like it was it was a thing. And if I ever write something that's about being in a swamp, like 00:02:45.000 --> 00:02:46.000 now I'm like, well, I know what that's like, a little bit, because I had never been like somewhere like that 00:02:46.000 --> 00:02:47.000 before, I don't grow up somewhere like that, so it's very different from the Midwest, and I was like, this is 00:02:47.000 --> 00:02:48.000 interesting, and never seen, an alligator this close, or crocodile, I don't even know, it was, it was cool, 00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:49.000 and I think worth doing, if that sounds up your alley, then you probably would love it, and else he's like, 00:02:49.000 --> 00:02:50.000 hard no, so you get it, it's like, a, you know, if you should do that, you just know your instincts will tell 00:02:50.000 --> 00:02:51.000 you. Would you agree with me that New Orleans is like the US city that feels least like you're in the US 00:02:51.000 --> 00:02:52.000 still? Yeah, yeah, it feels very like European or something, like, you know, a little bit French, a little bit. It 00:02:52.000 --> 00:02:53.000 does feel southern, though. Yeah, so it's got this like very weird mix to it. 00:02:53.000 --> 00:02:54.000 Elsie 00:02:54.000 --> 00:02:55.000 It's unique. 00:02:55.000 --> 00:02:56.000 Emma 00:02:56.000 --> 00:02:57.000 Yeah. It is. It's a very unique place. Okay, my next one is Iceland. Ooh, which Elsie and I've been to 00:02:57.000 --> 00:02:58.000 together, and then I went another time with friends. And Iceland is nowhere near where I live, so the 00:02:58.000 --> 00:02:59.000 fact that I've been there twice, I think, kind of tells you how much I love that place. I just think it's, it's 00:02:59.000 --> 00:03:00.000 much like what I was saying with Norway, it's northern lights, there's beautiful things to photograph, 00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:01.000 there's lots of like outdoor hiking. It also, depending what time of year you go, can be very, very, very 00:03:01.000 --> 00:03:02.000 cold, or it can be like mild and chilly, like wear a thick jacket, but you're fine, you know. It depends when 00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:03.000 you go, but I just love, I just love the landscape. I love taking pictures of landscapes. I love the new 00:03:03.000 --> 00:03:04.000 lights, and I just really love cold places, apparently. So, Iceland's like a place that I loved. I've been 00:03:04.000 --> 00:03:05.000 twice. I would love to go again. 00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:06.000 Elsie 00:03:06.000 --> 00:03:07.000 Yeah, I would say I did put this on my overrated list, so I'm gonna just say, oh, I.. it's not that I think it's 00:03:07.000 --> 00:03:08.000 okay. I think you have to go at the right season, because I think that when we went, it was very cold, 00:03:08.000 --> 00:03:09.000 and I wasn't dressed for.. I wasn't prepared for it, because we did what a lot of people do, where we 00:03:09.000 --> 00:03:10.000 tacked it on with the layover, so they have this like a stopover, this stopover thing, where you can stop 00:03:10.000 --> 00:03:11.000 in Iceland, you can kind of like tack it onto a Europe trip, and that's how a lot of people from the US end 00:03:11.000 --> 00:03:12.000 up going, and I just like was not dressed correctly for it, and then also we did this like tour guide day 00:03:12.000 --> 00:03:13.000 where I felt like I was like tortured. It was like it was a torturous experience. The snowmobile almost 00:03:13.000 --> 00:03:14.000 killed me. It was so terrifying. And then. Just being out in like the freezing cold with the wrong clothes 00:03:14.000 --> 00:03:15.000 on for the entire day was like psychologically it was all just completely wrong. Yeah, but I loved the city, 00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:16.000 I loved the Blue Lagoon. I would definitely go back, I would be more prepared. So I'm actually, I didn't 00:03:16.000 --> 00:03:17.000 want to put on my overrated. I had a hard time picking the overrated places because I don't really.. I 00:03:17.000 --> 00:03:18.000 think most places I go are wonderful. Yeah, same. And I'm not even.. I don't even want to say that. I just 00:03:18.000 --> 00:03:19.000 want to say, like, dress for it, dress correctly. I wore Vans, that was not right. 00:03:19.000 --> 00:03:20.000 Emma 00:03:20.000 --> 00:03:21.000 You need boots. Yeah, you need thick socks. 00:03:21.000 --> 00:03:22.000 Elsie 00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:23.000 And coats, and like.. and I kind of think it's like its own trip where you need like an extra suitcase for it, 00:03:23.000 --> 00:03:24.000 but yeah, it was wonderful. We had the best time. Okay, my last one is Venice slash Florence, because 00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:25.000 I just couldn't. Florence for the museum, Venice for the walks, and the canals, and it, like, I think my 00:03:25.000 --> 00:03:26.000 kids would be like interests. I think Venice is very. it's the most like real life Disneyland. It's just so 00:03:26.000 --> 00:03:27.000 magical, like it feels like you're in a movie. It's, it's just like so cinematic. And then the Peggy 00:03:27.000 --> 00:03:28.000 Guggenheim house was an incredible experience. So I can't really separate those two places, because 00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:29.000 we went on them on the same trip, and I just like couldn't choose, but I think a lot close there, and 00:03:29.000 --> 00:03:30.000 they're both pretty small, so they're both hard to recommend. In that, I've heard people say about both 00:03:30.000 --> 00:03:31.000 of them, like there's not enough to do, or whatever, but it's like that is like an attitude thing. It's like, if 00:03:31.000 --> 00:03:32.000 you love art, and you love food, and you love taking walks, which are all the things we love, you will 00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:33.000 love these places. 00:03:33.000 --> 00:03:34.000 Emma 00:03:34.000 --> 00:03:35.000 I can waste a lot of time just sitting around drinking coffee, honestly. So if you are on a bachelorette trip, which a lot of it seems to be about this very popular 00:05:27.000 --> 00:05:28.000 bachelorette bachelor weekend destination, but yeah, anytime you go downtown you'll see. Lots of 00:05:28.000 --> 00:05:29.000 people with like the sashes and the veils and stuff, and I just feel like I think that Nashville is hard for me 00:05:29.000 --> 00:05:30.000 because I love it so much, and I think it has so many hidden gems, but I feel like people all go to the 00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:31.000 same places and they're not necessarily like places that people who live there ever go, and maybe, so 00:05:31.000 --> 00:05:32.000 maybe that's just a perspective.
